Yesterday, a small hailstorm hit the area, causing a short power failure. I waited a little before reopening the computer, sat down in front of the window, and watched the show Mother Nature was offering. Hails weren't that big, but it lasted quite some time.
Once the storm far enough, I turned the computer back on and continued my business as usual. An hour later, called by the lemonade in the fridge, I walked downstairs only to face this sad display:

Our sunroom's roof was destroyed. At this state, you can't call that "damaged". Honestly, I wasn't that shocked. This is a plastic roof made of polymers. Two years ago, two panels were damaged by ice, and we had to replace them. Nobody makes such roofs anymore, so it was very difficult finding someone with the materials and qualifications. He told us this material had a tendency to dry and loose its elasticity, thus getting more fragile with age. As a matter of fact, out of the five panels, the two new ones are intact, except for a tiny hole.
Nevertheless, this is the death knell for that kind of roof. We'll be looking at replacing it with either a glass roof or an awning. We'd prefer a glass roof, to keep enjoying the sunlight, but we're not sure the current structure can sustain the weight. Well, time to start shopping.
