slimKEYS Preview Version 0.9.2 Now Available!

I'm glad to announce that slimKEYS version 0.9.2 is now available for download.

slimKEYS is a multi-purpose hotkey manager, with a plug-in system, so that anybody can implement new hotkey handlers for any task they like. With the current release, there are three built-in plug-ins:

slimSIZE lets you move or resize the active window to predefined areas of your choice, on any monitor. For example, I have three areas on my work machine. The first, mapped to Win-F9, is the entire primary screen (1680x1050). The second, mapped to Win-F10 is on the same monitor, but is only 1024 width and aligned to the right. The last one, mapped to Win-F11, is on the second monitor (1280x1024) and includes everything except 200 pixels width at the left, where my Trillian buddy list and other goodies appear.

slimLAUNCH lets you type a few letters of an application, document or folder, to launch that item. You can make it scan many special folders like your Start Menu, your documents, the desktop, or custom folders of your choice. In my case, I'm letting it scan my Start Menu and the shared Start Menu. For example, I can press Win-Z, type "vs5" and <Enter>, and Visual Studio .NET 2005 starts! Even better, the first time I typed "vs5", Visual Studio .NET 2005 wasn't the first of the suggested items. It was the Visual Studio .NET 2005 Command Prompt. I used the arrows to select Visual Studio .NET 2005 and pressed <Enter>. Since then, it's always the first suggestion, before the VS.NET 2005 Command Prompt.

Finally, slimVOLUME displays the volume level in the bottom-right corner every time you use your keyboard's volume control.

I still call this version a "preview" since the public interface for plug-ins may change again (causing breaking changes) and there is to help nor documentation. For the moment, your single source of information is the slimKEYS forum.

Enjoy!
