Tracking numbers are useless

Is it just me, or are tracking numbers as useless as the scroll lock key? Every time I have bought something from Dell, the moment I finally could retrieve a tracking number from the order status page, it was to find out the package was "in truck for delivery". And when the tracking number does arrive early from other shopping sources, you either can't get any information for days, or its totally useless. Take this Amazon tracking information:

Ship Carrier:
Canada Post

Tracking Number:
################

Status:
In transit

Order #:
###-#######-#######

Shipment Date:
Feb 01, 2007

Destination:
LA PRAIRIE, QC, CA

Estimated Arrival:
Feb 14, 2007

Yeah, right! The book is in transit and will take 14 days to arrive! Come on, let's throw away all this tracking crap and get serious about tracking packages. I want a GPS device installed on my purchase! That's the only way I could trust such information. q;-)

Then again...
