At a very inappropriate time, I've been out of an Internet connection for more than 48 hours now. Only this morning have I had the time to search for a spare phone cord, plug my computer's commuted modem, call my Internet provider (one more time) to get the commuted phone number I can use, and configure Windows' dial up.
I'm now back to (semi) life. I can finally answer my forums (I hope those waiting for an answer will be forgiving the longer delay) and read and answer my emails.
During this "Internet outage", my wife and I went through the usual "power outage syndrome", like:
- Honey, can you check Tomorrow's weather?
- No dear, remember, we don't have Internet!
Or:
- Can I switch user, I need to read my emails.
- You can switch user, I don't need the computer. But you won't read much emails.
I've been caught without a backup plan. From now on, I'll make sure the commuted modem is always plugged and configure. It's a must these days.
