    Hi there!

The planed features for the next release (no dates yet) are:

    • Allow slimSIZE hotkeys to grow/shrink windows, not just impose a specific size.
    • Close the slimLAUNCH window after pressing Ctrl-F on a FileSystem item (I don't think anyone will complain about this behavior change).
    • Adjust slimLAUNCH name matching algorithm to give more weight to matches closer to the beginning of the name.
    • Support the PortableApps mode (i.e. working from a USB key with command-line parameters).
    • Some fixes to slimSMOKE when the resolution changes or working from Remote Desktop.

slimVOLUME customization is very interesting, including your 4th idea about hotkeys for specific levels. But that will have to wait a little longer.

Customizing other aspects of the UI is on the ice. I'm not fully satisfied with the current implementation (all drawn in real-time, no bitmaps, not skinnable). I'm still evaluating my options.

As for slimZOOM, I'll wait a little to gather more feedback.

    Hi there,

I was happy to see a new slimKeys released today!

    I am installing it now!

I was quite shocked that you made it FREE too.  I wonder why you did this, because I was one of the ones who paid for the software, of course I feel a bit like a sucker.  But I am glad to have contributed anyway, even still it was a quite small amount of money.  I still love slimKEYS and it is a great piece of software.

I only hope that this doesn't mean the end for slimKEYS development now that it has become a free product.

    cheers,

    Luke

    Re: pretty quiet around here!

First, rest assured, I don't plan to abandon slimKEYS. I'll continue improving it, I'm its main customer!

The main reason to make slimKEYS free is to get some more satisfaction from it. I realized it wasn't the number of sales that was driving this satisfaction, but the number of users. Since both these numbers are low, to be honest, I've decided that in order to increase the number that does make sense, I had to ignore the other number.

I understand seeing something you paid for becoming free is a downer, and I intend to fully refund anyone who feel betrayed. A blog post is coming Tomorrow about this.

But now that it's free, I do hope slimKEYS users will continue to spread the word, so it becomes a successful product (under my definition of success! ;) ).

Thanks again for the very nice and stimulating comments.
